The Hall of Fame Committee selects individuals for induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Those considered for induction may include alumni, coaches, or administrators who have elevated the Clark athletic program and are outstanding examples of character, leadership, commitment, and sportsmanship. The committee consists of seven to nine members (mostly alumni and including two current Hall of Fame inductees) who are appointed jointly by the director of Athletics and the executive director of Alumni and Friends Engagement and The Clark Fund.

Committee member responsibilities:

  • Remain connected to Clark Athletics, teams, and coaches in the present, while learning about Clark’s rich athletics history.
  • Review and assess candidates for induction.
  • Attend selection meetings and the on-campus induction ceremony.
  • Philanthropically support Clark Athletics each year.

Andy Schechter ’90
Chair

Andy Schechter was a four-year varsity soccer player for the Clark Men’s Soccer Team. His team went to the NCAA tournament during his first season in 1986, and he served as co-captain of the team as a senior. After graduating in 1990, Andy spent a season as the Men’s Soccer Team Assistant Coach before he became the Women’s Soccer Team Head Coach. He built the Women’s Soccer Team into one of the best programs in New England in his 9-year tenure. In 1998, the Women’s Team finished 6th in the Nation with an undefeated (16-0-1) regular season. While coaching at Clark, he served on an earlier Hall of Fame committee (mid 1990s) and is thrilled to give back again to the University as well as the Athletics community in his new role as chairperson.

Professionally, Andy is an Executive Manager who serves on the leadership team at Siemens Advanta (a division of Siemens AG: SIEGY). He leads the Digital Utilities practice at the company and has extensive utility software industry experience. Andy has held leadership positions with several utility software solution providers. Currently, Andy works with utilities and retail energy suppliers of all sizes across North America. With more than 20 years of software sales, marketing and operational executive experience, Andy helps electric, gas and water utilities with digital transformation, grid modernization, and energy resiliency.

He is the proud father of William Schechter, who is in the Clark University Class of 2024, and Anna Schechter, a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and Oxford University.
